A new women’s cricket event takes place today at Lord’s when Middlesex Women play on the main ground for the first time, facing Marylebone Cricket Club.

The T20 match is the first of two games to be held on Women’s Day at the home of cricket, with former England captain Charlotte Edwards leading the MCC team.

Estate agents Chestertons are sponsoring the Middlesex women’s side.

Organisers are hoping today’s match will draw a record crowd for a domestic game in England played by women, building on the success of the England side in last summer’s World Cup.
