Agency employee in court on allegations of £400,000 theft

An estate agent employee has appeared in court accused of stealing nearly £400,000 from her employer over a ten-year period.

Angela Clift, 47, is charged with taking money from Keith Pattinson Estate Agents in Newcastle between 2005 and 2015.

At Newcastle Magistrates’ Court, she entered no plea to one count of theft by an employee.

Clare Irving, prosecuting, said Clift was accused of stealing £397,896 and that due to the alleged amount taken, the case was so serious it should be dealt with at Newcastle Crown Court.

Clift was released on unconditional bail to appear at the crown court on January 18.

Keith Pattinson Estate Agents has branches throughout the north-east, with its head office in Ridley Place, Newcastle.
