Agent which ran holiday competition reported to advertising watchdog

A Facebook post by an estate agent was reported to the advertising watchdog.

The matter has been informally resolved.

Posted by Bedford-based Taylor Made Residential & New Homes, the post invited consumers “to enter our Winter Sun competition!”

The post included a link to the website where consumers could enter into the competition.

Complainants challenged whether the winner had been selected by an independent person; the promotions had been administered fairly; and the prizes had been awarded in accordance with the laws of chance.

A spokesperson for the Advertising Standards Authority said: “We approached the advertiser with the concerns that had been raised.

“It provided assurances that any future promotions will include the closing date for entries; state how and when winners will be notified of results; award prizes within 30 days; and ensure that prizes are awarded in accordance with the laws of chance.”
