Big deals set to be announced as major agents stay tight-lipped on acquisitions

At least two new big deals are in the offing, EYE understands.

Yesterday, Spicerhaart did not deny – or comment on – suggestions that it has bought, or is buying, a major firm.

We are told this is Butters John Bee, with 19 branches across Staffordshire, Cheshire, Shropshire and the west midlands.

Spicerhaart has previously said it wanted to expand its presence in the north of the country. Butters John Bee traces its roots back over 150 years and is also known for auctioneering.

Meanwhile, there remain rumours that Countrywide has bought a hybrid agency firm in a £16m deal.

Countrywide, and the firm said to have been acquired, have both remained tight-lipped.
