Branches returning to Zoopla at rate of over 100 per month

ZPG has reported that more than 100 branches per month on average returned to its platform during the three months since OnTheMarket dropped its one-other portal rule in February.

The rate of branches returning to ZPG during the three months following OTM’s stock market flotation more than doubled the rate in the preceding three months and is up almost fourfold over the same period last year.

Agents who have recently returned to ZPG over the past two weeks include Screetons (Doncaster), Perry Bishop & Chambers, Murrays (both Gloucestershire), Matthews Benjamin (Lake District), and Pacitti Jones (Glasgow).

Charlie Bryant, the new managing director of ZPG Property Services, said: “We’re delighted to welcome all of these agents back to our platform.

“We offer the best value digital marketing in the UK and agents clearly recognise the advantages we deliver to their business and their customers.

“We continue to provide our members with record levels of exposure via our portals along with the widest range of additional services to help agents gain exposure and generate additional revenues.”

Zoopla forget to mention they are also doing deals with agents in order to push Rightmove out of number one spot.

I have heard and know of agents including ourselves paying Zoopla fees from £0 to £450pm for the Silver sales and Lettings packages without any add ons.

They are doing this on order to gain more market share. Which is fair enough.

We as agents hold the inventory and should dictate to these portals what we are willing to pay as an industry.

Rightmove are losing agents on a monthly basis.  8 in our area have come away since the start of the year. They are doing fees for sales and lettings starting at £525pm.

OTM is delivering leads and that’s the one agents need to back in order to keep all these portals in check.

If you are paying more than 10-15% of your profit to property portals then that’s when as an industry we need to start thinking of how to bring back control.

What are other business owners/marketing managers paying? and have you given notice in order to negotiate the best deal for yourself?

We have been offered £100 per branch but stopped after a few weeks with little or no enquiries. Hoopla are useless here in the provinces. Amazingly OTM is much better with more local listings and more enquiries.

I find it frankly amazing that Agents who are OTM Members can seemingly box off and forget the dirty war fought between the two portals in the run-up to the dropping of the OOPR.

Maybe Agents have also forgotten the originally stated reason for OTMs existence.  It was NOT to create a third portal/cost – which is what it is now being seen as – and therefore bemoaned about – by many.

      PeeBee,

Whilst I fully agree with many of the comments here – including the information sent out by Zoopla, as an Agent I wanted to support Z + OTM when OTM was launched. Unfortunately, many agents did not wish to follow by dropping RM as they felt their clients would drive them to continue to advertise on RM.

Since dropping RM in favour of Z earlier this month, I have started to inform my clients that we are dropping RM and will rejoin Z at the end of this month. So far – none have rejected my ideas as the levels of leads to their properties says it all !

RM have increased their costs and are driving fewer and fewer leads to us thereby driving the costs per lead through the roof !

It is time for all agents to inform RM that the price increases are not acceptable by cancelling their subscriptions. Only when this is done, will agents take back control. I am even happy to pay for all 3 portals IF they offer value for money.

I might also add that the cost of Z sales and lettings offered to me was VERY GOOD value for money and they really are pushing the advertising of late !

Thank you for your comment.  We could debate this all day… and tomorrow… and I actually tried to drag you deeper into the subject last week!

So… let’s do it, mon ami!

IF RM and Z were the same price – and you only needed one – which would you use, and why?

Why on earth would anyone re-join Zoopla…?!

It really is like throwing £350+ down the drain every month.

Zoopla is finished. We now get more leads from OTM than Rightmove.

Can anyone actually say they get quality leads from ZPG….? Answers below please. I’d love to know.

100 agents sign up to Zoopla in the same period that 1000 agents signed up to Onthemarket.

I’m amazed that Zoopla even made mention of this!

If we ever needed proof OTM reps are posting on Eye here it is.

Laughable. Like reading a 5 star PurpleBricks review!

Shame you can’t nuke the comment, just dislike it 😉

      Do OTM actually have reps?

We get in the region of 1,000 leads per month from Zoopla and although a lot of them are poor a lot are good quality and with the business we convert Zoopla does pay for itself. We’ve just joined OTM for 12 months to see what happens as well.

Why would anyone go back to Z when they’ve not needed them, unless they are planning on dropping RM. if all the OTM agents had dropped RM in the first instance instead of dropping Z then we would all be in a better position now. It’s took a while but OTM are finally producing the leads.

Infact if every agent dropped Both RM & Z every house hunter would look on OTM.

Yup, I’m with smile please ……it’s like an OTM Rep convention with new users/posters or IS has plenty of spare time, as usual.

TV Ad was so quick last night it was hard to pick up who/what was being advertised – as usual, half-hearted!

Never mind, thankfully for OTM they’ve got Locked-in Leavers paying full rate until we all flee….. that’ll pay for a bucket’s worth of Ads!

Zoopla and Rightmove Reps busy knocking my door so at least OTM appear to have stirred something…. shame they didn’t get their finger out last time when the Original OTM’ers paid their hard earned money to get this Balloon off the ground.

Save the pro-OTM jibes for folk who didn’t lay the foundations that you have bandwagoned onto. The biggest commitment came from those who stepped up 1st time around! ……and then got shafted with the Dilly Dilly OTMV2 Option!!

April 2019 – let’s see what OTM have actually delivered. Until then it’s all stats and bluster ……and those very short TV Ads!

Fair play…. saw a longer OTM Ad tonight, not the cheeriest voiceover from Sue Perkins however it’s not The Bake Off gig I suppose. Good to know my £300 monthly is actually paying for something, remember that – freeloaders.
