Countrywide confirms that key compliance figure has left ahead of data management changes

A senior figure at Countrywide has left the business.

Grant Dempster’s departure was confirmed yesterday, but no reason was given.

He was in charge of risk and compliance at the UK’s largest estate agency.

A brief statement from Countrywide said: “Countrywide can confirm that Grant Dempster has left the business.

“We thank Grant for his time at Countrywide where he worked on raising the profile of risk and compliance to the most senior levels.

“Martyn Stones, Enterprise, Risk Director leads the Risk and Compliance Team.”

A separate statement yesterday underlined Countrywide’s approach to new data management rules (GDPRS) this month.

It said: “Last year Countrywide set up a dedicated GDPR team in order to establish clear processes, training and communications to support the forthcoming data protection changes.

“This team continues to meet regularly and have implemented key activity across the business in advance of the changes that come into force on May 25.”

Maybe the new compliance bod will take a look at some of their brands’ compliance with the CMA reviews regs as well?
