County’s largest independent signs up to OnTheMarket

A major regional chain, Arnolds Keys, has joined OnTheMarket.

The firm has eight residential branches across Norwich, Norfolk and north Suffolk, and claims to be the largest independent estate agency both in Norwich and across Norfolk.

A partner is Jan Hÿtch, who was a particularly impressive President of the NAEA in 2013/2014, and is also a chartered surveyor.

The firm will now be advertising all of its properties for sale and to rent at OnTheMarket and Rightmove.

It previously listed on Rightmove only.

OTM announced in January that the level of overall support for the portal had risen beyond 6,500 estate and letting agent offices across the UK, an increase of more than 50% compared with the same time last year.

The figure consists of contracted offices and agents who have signed a Letter of Intent to join OTM when total support reaches 7,500 offices – which is OTM’s next major milestone.

Jan Hÿtch said: “We’re confident that OTM will continue to grow throughout 2016 and will build on the excellent performance it achieved throughout last year.

“The website is a great place to display our clients’ properties and we look forward to working with the UK’s only agent-owned, agent-controlled portal.”

OTM boss Ian Springett said: “We welcome this successful and multi-branch firm.

“It’s been a fantastic start to the year at OTM, with record traffic levels achieved in January, record leads for agents and a record number of recruited offices since launch.

“We look forward to welcoming many more new agents throughout 2016 and continuing to expand our property stock and our membership.”

    Will Mr Springett publicly state that this isn’t one of the £50 no voting rights deals and has no free time attached. To give this away when they are only one portal anyway would be a bit of a shot in the foot.

        IT was bought up by OTM at the newcastle meeting by all accounts.Ask PeeBee, a friend who went told me that it was bought up by them and that the rate is £50 but they get no vote. A sort of unofficial 4th category

    The truth is, you will not really know the position of OTM for another year or so, due to the fact that they are bringing on many agents through offering zero or near zero listing fee’s.

    Only when agent are paying the full listing price will you know if they are sticking with OTM, my guess is that many agents like myself will drop them at the time fees change to the full rate.

    if anyone thinks they’re not expanding now, you should just wait for the drop!

      So Fred, you are paying this mythical zero or near zero listing fee contract and you want to cancel it, but are moaning because you are being held to a term …in this zero or near zero contract??….. wow thats tough.

      Would you care to add any other of the propaganda comments like how much the CEO is paid or the fact that adverts for OTM have appeared in Country Life?

    Fred if you are intending to leave OTM it is presumably because you are not satisfied with the leads generated and are only sticking with them due to the low fees currently being offered – why stay with a product you’re clearly not happy with…I’m sure that Z welcome you back at a similar fee to what you pay OTM…or it that you’re not an agent at all?

      I have already asked to leave OTM but they say it’s a fixed term contract and wont play ball, and I am already with Zoopla.

      you are clearly with OTM and my guess is you pay the full rate now?

        Yes Fred i’m with OTM and happy with progress being made and the implications that brings within i’d guess about 18 months or so…..i’m just surprised at someone who is with OTM and bound by a fixed term contract, who would rather “Ratner” the product than support it.

              Well how many properties are you advertising full stop? It’s not a question of how many due to the fact that almost al of our properties are currently occupied, it’s the lack of feeds from OTM for the ones being advertised.

    I said I would be one of those asking questions at the recent OTM meetings. To put to bed immediately. No-one in OTM is being offered £50 subscription. That is a blatant lie. The £50 is being offered by Zoopla.

            Well it is because you are making allegations that cannot be substantiated.

            I have called OTM as i am not a member and i have asked for a £50 per month deal and they laughed and said that they do not offer such a deal.

            So either you are seen as a vicious liar or you need to provide just 1 agent that can back this nonsense story up.

            Comments like yours and Danny’s without proof shows you up for what you really are.

                if you do and you have i suggest you forward it to the team at Eye as that is a story worth publishing. As opposed to unsubstantiated claims.

                  The only place they’re unsubstantiated are on here – where it would be amazingly bad form to out someone to settle a debate. It’s not their ‘fault’ they’ve signed a free or £50 contract, it’s OTM’s fault and breach that they’ve issued one. Or dozens.

                      The issue was raised, glossed over but no specific figures were mentioned – unless that is my cloth ears missed them.  Unfortunately those that raised any questions were in the main quiet types and it was extremely difficult to hear them if you were behind.

    I’m not sadistic by nature but I do get a little shiver of pleasure in watching Danny and his mates undergoing this prolonged Chinese water torture.

    Every bit of good news about OTM sends another drip onto their foreheads. It may take a looooooong time. They will squeal and struggle in protest.  But eventually the drips will do their work.

    Supposing, just supposing OTM said ‘It’s free to everyone for a year. But you have to come off both RM and Z’. Would it fly?

    Surely, if everyone took that leap, OTM would have critical mass and RM and Z would be left with just their shareholder agents.

      It’s a fair shout, the only real way it could ever work in the desired way is to let everyone on for free/£50/it’s true value and if everyone did it at once.

      The option for mass action was December 2015 and it never got close to happening.

      they should have made it very cheap, no exclusivity clause, built up great inventory and started to work on the traffic. THEN went to destroy the infidels of the duoply. Just such flawed execution it drives me mad. The number of agents alone genuinely doesnt matter, its a site we use for advertising, means it has to have people going, enjoying it and coming back. Punters hate it, clean and fresh means no data or information.

    great news from OTM today – we were desperate for that overseas part to the site, and I am sure when they took feedback from customers and buyers that was top of the list of what was missing – as far as I can see it was the only gap between their offering and Rightmove.

        DE Yep Gibraltar exists and so does New Zealand that’s the difference, they are fact even if you haven’t been there and so is it fact that no-one is being offered £50 to join AM. Those that HAVE POSTED ANTI OTM today haven’t a clue about strategy of AM/OTM as anyone who is a member will immediately see. Member’s understand the reason behind the one portal rule, those out in the cold just haven’t a clue or are on the receiving end. And why would you be on the receiving end because you are the competition.

         

        An opinion on facts you do not know or understand and of course you know better how we should run our business.  As for the rep offering £50 which I heard from a friend of a friend. You’ve done yourself no favours, blatant lie for all to see.

         

        Anyone wanting to join in with these claims is simple enough to sort out who is telling the truth. There is no chance you will post on here who you really are or who you heard it from (as it isn’t happening!) but to help you get out of jail, tell Ross who is offering the £50 and she can do some investigating journalism. Now that would be a story for EYE.

          If you’re criticizing those that post on here anonymously, ‘Woodentop’ (one can only presume that isn’t your real name), I’d firstly present your own name, business, and qualification for critiquing everyone else’s perspective.

          I don’t need to know your name to appreciate your perspective, or do I want to know it. This is the point of these boards.

          Everyone can see the aim and strategy from OTM – but everyone except the most entrenched Mutual-Blind can see how poorly it’s been done, to serve the very few and not the vast majority. It’s a joke within the industry, and outside.

          I have personally seen more than a few of the £50 deals. They exist, in much higher numbers than you want to believe. They’re being offered, and accepted daily, and I’d take it up with those that are taking your money and lying to you rather than those that bring you news you don’t want to believe.

          I desperately don’t want to believe the USA are about to elect Donald Trump as President – but guess what?

          If Roz is worth her salt as a journalist she would do the investigative bit herself. It wouldn’t be difficult, it’s an open secret.
