EweMove franchisee completes on network’s biggest acquisition to date

EweMove has completed on its biggest acquisition to date via its Sheffield branch.

Owned and operated by Bob Brown, it has taken over Castle Estates in the same city.

It has added over 350 properties to the EweMove sales and lettings portfolio with five new team members joining the ‘flock’.

EweMove Sheffield is one of the longest running franchise operations under the hybrid brand.

Brown said: “I was determined to set up my own business. When the pilot scheme with EweMove was announced back in 2013, I immediately said I’d take the Sheffield territory without even knowing the costs, as the opportunity was just too good to miss.

“Almost five years later, we’re proud to be amongst the top branches, and positioned for a period of sustainable growth.”

The full rebranding of Castle Estates’ portfolio to EweMove is scheduled to take place over the next couple of months.

Terry Rogers, who sold the business to Brown, said: “We received more than three substantial offers to buy the business, but we agreed with Bob and this team because I was impressed by EweMove’s philosophy to look after its landlords and its team, not to mention its state-of-the-art technology and support network.”

Looks like EweMove is coming of age! 350 managed is a portfolio twice the size of the average ARLA agent. I know the seller had other offers, but he loved Bob, our Sheffield franchisee, and the happy customer ethos at EweMove. As our Group gets further involved with assisting franchisees with acquisitions (2,012 tenanted managed properties acquired last year, 3,000 planned for this) it’s not always price that tips the balance. One chap said “I still see all my landlords at the Rugby, and I could not look them in the eye if I had sold them out to a corporate”.

Sorry to be a Negative Norman here – but all I see here is blah…blah…blah.

It all sounds wonderful, Mr ChumpExecutive – loving your bloke and your company ethos and all that – but I’m pretty darn sure that the outgoing owner’s mutually agreed statement has as little significance to him as does one tiny grain of sand forming the faraway beach he is most likely counting EweMove’s money on as we speak.

But, hey – what do I know – and what does it matter what I think!

Yep, in the end it’s only ever about the money. We were competing on one up against a well known corporate renowned for over-paying and then suffering massive attrition. Vendor said he loved us and wouldn’t under any circumstances sell his beautiful baby to anyone other than someone who could nurture it lovingly. Guess what? he sold it to the Circus…..

          I disagree.

This may have been your experience, but that does not mean it is always the case.
