Ex-Countrywide boss Harry Hill says firm has ‘market share disaster’ on its hands

Former Countrywide boss Harry Hill has openly criticised the UK’s largest estate agent on social media.

On Twitter he wrote: “Walked for four miles through S W London today and saw hundreds of agents boards, one of which was a Countrywide brand. Market share disaster!”

Hill said that “wandering the streets was always a decent way to get a real feel for market share”.

He also tweeted about current chief executive Alison Platt: “Well I wish her and a fast diminishing team well but the share price suggests that some City professionals have their doubts.”

Sadly, your tweets will fall on deaf ears at CW Towers. You are a man of some years with vast experience of estate agency. So far as CW’ is concerned that makes you a about as useful as a chocolate teapot. You’d be out the door and pursuing ‘new challenges’ in minutes.

Donald Trump seems to have inside support and all is he trying to do is to ensure Hilary wins …. maybe Alison is on the payroll of another corporate EA tasked with ruining CW! I’m sure she will get a massive bonus off them for her efforts to date!

Harry has a good point here. When my boards aren’t dominant, I know we need to up our game. I run a small business but when running a big business, you need to ensure the basics are in place. Countrywide are missing the mark in too many quarters.

Tell me! What is the timing? When should a chief executive plan his or her departure from a doomed project so that they move swiftly to their next high salary without loss of reputation or income? I can hear the press release for this one ….

Have CW adopted a dispatch any non believers policy?

Is there a name for that in Governance or leadership?

To adopt such a focus, you must surely have found a way to fuel any new hybrid offering, without, the business model breaking massive national TV costs?

If so, whatever way that may be, is it now unlikely to include Z?
