London-based estate agent Douglas & Gordon, one of the founding members of OnTheMarket, has struck a long-term deal with ZPG while also signing up for a further five years with OTM.
The terms of each new deal are not known, and the Douglas & Gordon deals appear to highlight what may or may not remain of the One Other Portal Rule.
Douglas & Gordon, which has 18 offices across London, now uses all three major property portals.
On Twitter, the firm said it was ‘delighted’ to be extending its support for OTM for another five years.
James Evans, Douglas & Gordon CEO, also said: “We are delighted to be marketing all of our property listings with ZPG again.
“ZPG have historically served our business very well and have considerably developed their platform over the past few years in terms of the range of services they now offer.
“This new agreement is a win for both our business and our customers who will benefit as a result.”
Mark Goddard, MD of Property at ZPG, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Douglas & Gordon back to ZPG and that they recognise the value we can add to their business.
“We look forward to ensuring that they now get the best possible brand exposure in the market and that their vendors and landlords receive the maximum enquiries for their properties.”
“The rule will no longer be required of agents entering into new listing agreements …..Our contracted agents who have chosen not to sign new 5 year terms must remian on their existing terms” ……. possibly the worst decision of all by OTM . Anyone who has not signed new terms , and id imagine its quite alot will serve their couple of years and then be lost forever by OTM .A fantastical piece of short sighted thinking….

Am I missing something? Was not the whole founding ethos of OTM to fight the ‘duopoly’. You now have DG advertising on not just the two original main portal sights, but all 3? They must have money burning a hole in their pockets!

“must have money burning a hole in their pocket”
I think the only thing they have burning away was a few joints hanging out of their mouths…. only being on an illegal high would surely create someone to turn around from a “you only need 1” to “sh*t we need 3”
Dope in ways than one!

Disgrace they have sat around a table and come up with a business plan to sell houses which involved the belief being on 3 portals will make any difference.
Another great “I value my brand” move by another spineless company.
I did have a email chat with a Zoopla rep who promised me it (Zoopla) would help my business by being on it.
I agreed to list, IF IF IF they pay me £350 to £500 per month, for the help I will offer them in driving customers to their site and no doubt getting the next agent on board as they use the old “well Ric is on now” so you need to.
When will we learn they need us… DOH, do we not get that still.

A story that could have been written by George Orwell himself. We all have the same rules and we are all equal although some are more equal than others. Lets just bend the rules to suit ourselves shall we. We all know what happened in that story and i’ve no doubt this will go the same way.
The only person that will ever make any money out of this will be Springett himself. His idea, his inception, his rules, his gain. Good luck to him is what i say. Ha ha ha!

So ZPG re-launched Prime Location around 2 years ago when OTM were clearly on the ropes.
Presumably, a prime portal requires prime agents such as Douglas and Gordon and others?
It will be very interesting to see if other ‘founding members’ decide to follow suit in the near future?
Are these agents the very ones who pressed for a float thereby dropping the OOP ZPG bashing rule allowing them to do so?
Remember, Yopa, is partly owned by Savills and Yopa already list on ZPG?
Bet these agents could now negotiate brilliant deals with ZPG?
If this ever happened, the only way that Springate could retain any level of his own massive ego would be to unfairly hold NO voters to their origin contracts, thus preventing them them joining ZPG?
‘On line agents are parasites and a bit of a con’ words that Springett may live to regret?
#ConTheMarket…….we shall see?

It’s an interesting thing to Witness, from my perspective (a Day 1 Gold Member who loaned Agents Mutual/OTM money), my perspective being locked down here in the OTM Leavers Dungeon!
I witness those in the fresh air above me listing on multiple portals, which seems to confirm the lack of faith some Remainers have in OTM V2, yet whilst I am desperate to escape I remain chained here in the OTM Dungeon.
I wonder what a collective list of those wishing to leave now (and are prevented from doing so) would look like/number.
I’ll post an email link on the teai.co.uk website over the weekend and if you are a Locked in Leaver drop an email/copy of your business card in-confidence (so I can confirm you are who you claim to be). I’m not aware that it is a crime to gather a list?…..at least, not yet!
At least the Locked in Leavers then have a private face….. for now.

Outcome: Onthemarket share price up 6.27% on the mornings trading.
Read into that what you will.
