Landlords’ Barometer – #53: Politics, politics, politics – it’s all a bit much

Welcome to a special “themed edition” of the Landlords’ Barometer where we showcase landlord reactions to the latest political announcements about the private rented sector.

1. Is our Prime Minister on another planet?

A PT member sparks a lively debate about Conservative intentions to regulate the private rental sector.

2. The Rentier Economy – the PRS under Labour

Landlords discuss Jeremy Corbyn’s plans, including rent controls.

3. Will you still be a landlord in five years’ time?

This discussion has achieved a lot of traction within our community with many landlords expressing their view.

4. Five threats that should be on every landlord’s radar

I outline five key threats that all landlords and letting agents need to be aware of, some of which many landlords will be completely unaware of.

5. The Prudential Regulation Authority’s curbs on mortgage lending will make Section 24 look like a walk in the park!

Section 24 still appears to be the focus for many landlords, however PRA is now embedding and will cause far more problems for landlords with four or more properties than S24.
