Welcome to the first “Landlords Barometer” of 2018!

At Property Tribes, the year got off to a flying start with a month of themed content which we called our “Landlord Navigation” campaign.

We asked industry commentators and experts to tell us the three things that they thought were most important for landlords to be aware of in 2018.

7. A small victory for landlords!

We started the New Year with a piece of good news for those of you who make use of the Alternative Payment Scheme (APA) to secure redirection of the tenant’s “housing costs”. Following pressure from PT member and LHA/UC expert Bill Irvine and the RLA, the DWP confirmed its staff have been instructed “explicit consent” will no longer be required in relation to the progressing of APA requests.

Also, heads up that the northern edition of the NALS Annual Conference is taking place in York on March 7, 2018.

The theme is “Regulation. Innovation. Inspiration” and, having attended myself on several occasions, I can vouch that it is a really valuable day out for anyone with an interest in the private rented sector.
