A YouGov survey has found that smokers are the least popular type of tenants with landlords.
The poll found that 64% of landlords would not want to let to smokers, way ahead of the 44% who would prefer not to let to housing benefit tenants, and the 40% who dislike student tenants.
Only 34% of landlords say they would not want to let to people with pets.
The survey was commissioned by The House Shop, which accepts both private and agent listings.
