New property portal gears up for launch next week

A new property portal is launching a week today, on September 14.

Called My Property Search, it is promising a “streamlined system” allowing agents to upload properties using Google integration and “time-saving click lists”.

It is going to charge £99 plus VAT per branch, per month.

It also says that in the next few weeks, it will become a familiar sight online as well as in print and on TV and radio.

On the website, it invites agents to “find out more about how we intend to become a well-known, nationwide brand by the end of the year”.

There is little on the website at the moment, apart from an interesting “about us” section, which says it is the “UK’s biggest gateway for property search”.

My Property Search says it is the trading name of Tajpuriya Group whose registered office is in Uxbridge, Middlesex.

I hope they haven’t under estimated how much national TV advertising costs and how often you need to advertise on TV before people even start considering you. It’s a money pit. Plus they need to convince Estate Agents to use them and Estate Agents will only do so if they know it’s reaching enough of the public, but then why would the public want a 3rd or 4th option.

Have they not heard of the awful failings of onthemarket?

FOUR million?  Read this, from the ‘Register as an Agent’ tab:

“Focused to become UK’s number one property website, My Property Search is proud to be the destination for home-movers in the UK. We have strategically planned a market plan with over 10 million investment in advertising for consistently growing our market share of UK home-mover activity and to cement our place in the Top 10 busiest websites in the UK.”

          Wow.

The nationwide marketing plan says it’s 4 million GBP. They probably mean 14 million total.

It’s good to be ambitious and confident, I have always said that.

So I can’t wait until this portal replaces one of Google UK, YouTube UK, eBay UK, Amazon UK, BBC UK, Yahoo UK, Hotmail UK, Twitter UK, Instagram UK, Reddit UK and ‘cements’ their place in the top 10!

I can’t see any new portal being a success unless they get agents on board in their droves (or have a usp).

so when their rep phones up and tries to get agents to sign up to an unknown site for £99 a month what’s the answer going to be?!

            No, I’m not.

My initial post (at 7.49 this morning) was a comment directly relating to the article subject.  it made no reference whatsoever to OTM – neither did any of my other comments up to the one directed to ‘247property-Services-HQ’ which, as I have stated, was made for a reason other than, as you insinuate be the case, “defending” OTM.

It is YOU that has gone into OTM-related hyperdrive on this.  YOU are the one who has been dangling the bait – fully expecting someone to bite.

I didn’t realise (until now) that responding to your posts would cause the issue it clearly has.  I thought that you were encouraging debate – and I have brought debate to you.

            Or…was I wrong?

No it isn’t. You know this though.

I just done an interesting review of properties being marketted on OTM compared to rightmove in the main postcode I cover and the difference is absolutely staggering.

74 properties, YES SEVENTY FRICKING FOUR properties compared to 226 on rightmove and 136 on Zoopla….

That’s astonishing, also I’ve noted I was having a debate with someone the other day about SOLD PRICES not being advertised on OTM, clearly the person hadn’t actually ever used the website as it clearly has a tab to check sold prices for every road.

            Apparently I don’t.

“74 properties, YES SEVENTY FRICKING FOUR properties compared to 226 on rightmove and 136 on Zoopla….”

Yup – that’s SEVENTY FRICKIN FOUR properties that would have been proportioned roughly 80:20 on the other two sites.

RM would have roughly 240; Zoopla 196.  But they don’t.

‘I was having a debate with someone the other day about SOLD PRICES not being advertised on OTM, clearly the person hadn’t actually ever used the website as it clearly has a tab to check sold prices for every road.’

Perhaps the someone was referring to the “Properties sold nearby” and “Recent sales nearby” of the other two portals, which make every buyer feel like a ‘pwoperdee expert’ when entering negotiations £20k/20% below real value.

Maybe you simply hadn’t listened to the someone; or hadn’t qualified what they were saying correctly?

Lesson to be learned: be in possession of ALL relevant facts before entering debate on any subject.

You should take your own advice, my son.

And understand what words actually mean, such as EXCLUSIVE. They DO NOT have exclusive properties, they have hardly ANY properties!

You can check recent sales near by any property using the sold prices tab, you really aren’t that stupid are you?

              1. PeeBee

‘They DO NOT have exclusive properties, they have hardly ANY properties!’

Perhaps someone from OTM would like to confirm actual numbers.

From my understanding of statistics (which I respectfully suggest is a bit sharper than yours…), “hardly any” wouldn’t be considered an accurate estimate when referring to the proportion of listed properties on OTM to the  total of available properties on it and the other two portals combined – but, as a proportion of, say, one googol, then “hardly any” could well be the coat on the monkey’s back.

Now – to “EXCLUSIVE”.  My understanding of the word is as per the dictionary definition, which has remained pretty much the same since my school days.

As far as your understanding of the word ‘exclusive’ goes – then I would suggest the same be the case for you.

Therefore, the blame for any problem you now have with the true definition must surely rest squarely on the educational standards of the time and/or the establishment you attended for not adhering to those standards.

Some naughty internet marketers steal articles from other peoples blogs and ‘spin’ (change a lot of the words) them using software which, in effect, makes a unique article. The problem is, sometimes the new article is a useless piece of text which does not make sense. That’s the case with most of this website.
