People are increasingly concerned about the quality and availability of homes.
They top a list of housing worries for adults in the latest annual survey conducted by YouGov for the HomeOwners Alliance.
Fees charged by estate agents are much less of a worry than they used to be – a concern for 54% members of the public now, down from 57% last year and from 64% in 2014.
Stamp Duty, however, is less of a concern than it was: in 2014, the survey found that 64% of UK adults viewed it as a serious concern, whereas in the latest survey only 52% see it as an issue.
There is also little opposition to the 3% surcharge on purchases of second homes, with 47% supporting it and only 18% opposing it.
The 2016 survey also found that there is growing aspiration for home ownership among non-owners – 73% this year, up from 65% four years ago.
The Home Owners Alliance has always been anti proper and better agency services pushing lower cost/lower service models.
Basically a little knowledge can be dangerous. The HOA needs to understand how more agency models operate and what ‘other than cheap’ can actually bring to the benefit of sellers.

So, just to clarify, of all the people canvassed, there was little opposition to surcharge and stamp duty was less of a concern.
Who were these people they canvassed? and where were they from? – the moon??

Further evidence, if needed, that the British voting public cannot be trusted.
Complete nonsense results. Half the buyers I deal with on a daily basis have no idea what implications the 3% surcharge even has. A ridiculous tax which is hurting the wrong people.
