Snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan offers a ‘big break’ in housing

Legendary snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan has launched a website offering £350,000 one-bedroom flat in London’s Docklands as a draw prize.

Entries start at £1.50 and O’Sullivan, who became the youngest-ever winner of the UK Snooker Championship in 1993 at the age of 17, says there will be a guaranteed winner.

He also says the idea behind the competition is to offer people a “break” to get on the housing ladder.

So far as Eye is aware, there has not yet been a single successful promotion offering a property via a prize draw.

However, unless we’ve missed it, there does not seem to be anything in the terms and conditions which say that the Canary Wharf flat will be withdrawn if insufficient tickets are sold.

If the odds of winning the lottery are 1:14M then Ronnie is hoping to sell 666,666 tickets for his £350,000 apartment Gobbing him a selling price of £999,999! Should the number of tickets be capped at a lower figure or do you think it is fair enough to cash in on the hopes of the less well off?

Cashes in on the hopes off the less well off?! And our National Lottery doesn’t do the every week as well? I can only assume you have never bought a ticket then?

Docklands flat for £1.50, some “less well off” person will also be disagreeing with you shortly,

Wonder what the odds are in comparison with the lottery…..I haven’t got the maths skills to work it out!

I would say 50:50, you’re either going to win it or not 😛

As it happens the  Old Mill (that ground floor floods on a big tide) at Lee Bay used in the  OTM advert was draw prize for one of the national newspapers.  That wasn’t one of these £1/ticket draws, the loser got a newspaper!

It could be a lot more than that…. the small print (copied below) says that the competition will close 9 March 2016, or when there are 650,000 entrants.  Many entrants will likely buy more than just one ticket (indeed, the site encourages this by offering free tickets when you buy more).

Seems to me O’Sullivan is doing this in the hope of earning himself a large amount of cash, rather than helping somebody get on the housing ladder. (As I’m already on the housing ladder, does that mean I’m not eligible to buy tickets?)

Still, it’s another form of lottery I guess, and will be great for the lucky winner!

Entrants must be 16 or older. Competition will close on 9th March 2016 or when there are 650,000 entrants, whichever is sooner. The prize is ownership of the property at 45 Panoramic Tower, 6 Hay Currie St, London E14 6GF. The first year of ground rent and service fees are included. All legal fees will be paid. Winners will be notified within 7 days of competition closing. Free entry may be made by post to The Retreat, Priory Road, Tiptree, Colchester Essex, CO5 0QE. For help call 03030318889. By entering you agree we may use your name and image for publication. Full terms may be found at bigwin.sincordia.co.uk Competition operated by RBHB Promotions Ltd, MK16 0JN. Well lets hope he has a lottery licence then because this has been tried many times before and often attracted huge fines as a result of not having one.
