WATCH: Thieves rip safe off agent’s wall in 5am raid

Burglars made off with an estate and letting agent’s safe after prising it from a wall.

The owner of the business is now offering a £1,000 reward for any information that leads to a conviction.

Paul Brown, who runs Eafield and Maple estate agents in Accrington, Lancashire, said two thieves entered his office shortly after 5am last Thursday.

They are thought to have used a sledgehammer to break the safe off the wall.

Brown declined to reveal how much cash was taken along with the safe because he said he didn’t want to advertise to potential thieves whether they would get away with money by raiding letting agents’ offices or not.

He told EYE: “It wasn’t a massive amount but it was enough and it doesn’t matter whether there was £10 or £10m in there. It is more the principle of the fact that we work hard every day to provide and these people think it’s acceptable to come along and help themselves.

“We believe we know who it is but it is a case of the police proving it.”

Inspector Steve Rides from Hyndburn Police told thisislancashire.co.uk: “The estate agents’ break-in was an isolated incident, for which we have got a line of enquiry which is still being developed.”
