Agencies to get chance to have their brand included in virtual property trading app

A smartphone app that lets wannabe property investors build a virtual portfolio based on Zoopla listings is looking to start discussions with agency brands to have their names included in the game.

Property Magnate launched in June and gives gamers a virtual £250,000 worth of ‘credits’ to build their own portfolios by buying and selling property. They can either grow their portfolios organically or buy additional credits.

Gamers search for and buy properties through 26 fake estate agents; they can also buy properties not on the market through the game’s acquisition agent.

While the agency names used are currently fake, real names and links to actual agency websites are due to be added to make it “more realistic”.

A spokesman said the developers are contacting big agency brands such as Countrywide and Savills to ask them to pay to have their name used in the game. The price will reflect where the agency is based.

Virtual investors are also going to get access to off-plan developments, property auctions and alternative assets such as classic cars, as well as being able to purchase landmarks such as Buckingham Palace and the Shard.

If that doesn’t excite you, from September the gamer who makes the most profit during the month will win an iPhone 8 or Galaxy 8.

Do you do virtual property inspections, virtual section 21 notices and virtual checkouts where you have to deal with irate tenants who’ve had money taken from their deposit? Haha I think it is April 1st.
