Agency shuts office for a day amid staff safety fears

An estate agency had to close one of its offices on Sunday amid safety fears for its staff after an intruder repeatedly made “not very nice suggestions” to staff.

Police advised Quick & Clarke to keep its office in Beverley, Yorkshire, closed on Sunday, with a note on Facebook stating: “This is on advice from the police having had an intruder come in for the second time to our office making not very nice suggestions to our staff.

“You can appreciate our staff mean a lot to us and we want to make sure they are safe.”

The office reopened yesterday and associate director Dawn Towse told EYE that police were dealing with the matter so not all details could be shared.

She said it was female staff who had been targeted, adding: “The chap came in for a second time a few weeks ago, making not very nice suggestions. Saturday he came in again but luckily a male negotiator was in.

“We made the decision to close for the day as our staff mean everything to us and their safety is paramount. We have no idea who this man is, and from what we understand we have not be the only ones subjected to him.

“However, we will always act in the best way possible to create a safe working environment for our staff.”
