Property consultant Carter Jonas has been appointed lead planning consultant on one of the largest regeneration projects in the UK.
The 120-acre site in Cambridge Northern Fringe East is expected to deliver around 5,200 homes and up to 1m sq feet of commercial, retail and leisure space that could create over 7,000 jobs.
Most of the site is currently occupied by Anglian Water’s waste-water recycling centre, which is set to be relocated.
The developer on the brownfield site is U+1.
Carter Jonas partner Richard Seamark said: “Cambridge Northern Fringe East is one of the most “significant brownfield regeneration projects in the UK.
“It will help to meet the chronic under-supply of homes in Cambridge and provide new retail, community and leisure space that will boost economic growth and enable this new city quarter to thrive.
“We look forward to working closely with U+1 to deliver this important scheme, as they have built an unrivalled reputation in delivering complex place-making projects.”
