Agent reported to advertising watchdog over ‘offensive’ flyer showing top of woman’s cleavage

A letting agency was reported to the advertising watchdog after it circulated a leaflet showing a woman’s face, shoulders and the top of her cleavage.

Text above the image said in capital letters “The biggest in Plymouth” while an arrow pointed to the rest of her chest, which was covered by a fold in the leaflet.

Further text added, again in capital letters: “The biggest in Plymouth. Why not take a peek . . .”

Under the fold the photograph was revealed to be cropped. The text continued: “. . . At our Clever Student Properties? With over 3,000 rooms who says size doesn’t matter.”

The complainant challenged whether the advert by Clever Student Lets was offensive and irresponsible.

A spokesperson for the Advertising Standards Authority said: “The advertiser provided an assurance that the ad had been withdrawn and we resolved the case informally.”

Is this now resolved or is there still an opportunity to feel offended?

I had to study the advert time, and time, and time again … but I did conclude, it is jolly outrageous.

Its more than a little shoulder and cleavage – it looks like its been lifted straight off the top shelf.

What sort of lunatic clicks the order and distribute buttons on stuff like that.

see that absolutely no mention made of the ad showing a lad stripped the waist with the same tag line. Both biased or lazy reporting and unsurprisingly unevenly applied offence taken across the gender spectrum

what a sad world. Watching the complete and utter tosh about Fireman Sam is making me mad.

Sam can be short for Samantha or Samuel for a start!
