Correction notice and unreserved apology to Zoopla

Correction notice and unreserved apology to Zoopla

We would like to issue a correction notice and offer Zoopla Property Group a full and unreserved apology. In an article published on 14th October 2014 we reported incorrectly that Zoopla Property Group was specifically targeting vendors of agents who were quitting for Onthemarket with direct mailings. We understand that this is not the case and, in fact, were told such by Zoopla in advance of publishing that article. We wish to correct that Zoopla Property Group has not specifically targeted the clients of any agents who have left and, in fact, have for some time conducted direct mailing campaigns broadly to UK consumers and continue to do so.

We apologise unreservedly for this error and for any distress or reputational damage to Zoopla Property Group, its directors, shareholders, customers and employees.

Commenting, Alex Chesterman, CEO of Zoopla Property Group, said: “We are happy that propertyindustryeye has apologised unreservedly and retracted its erroneous article. We market broadly to UK consumers to explain the benefits of using our portals to search for property and of using agents who advertises on our portals to get maximum exposure for their properties when selling. Our marketing is designed to persuade consumers to use our websites when searching for property and to use ZPG member agents when selling as we believe that there are significant benefits to the consumer in doing so. With over 45 million visits every month, over 10 million registered users and over 5 million app downloads, we believe that the benefits of being a ZPG member agent are clear as are the benefits to a vendor or landlord of using a ZPG member agent. We use every opportunity to drive business to our member agents and will continue to do so.”
