First Agents Giving ball raises £20,000 for good causes

The inaugural Agents Giving ball last Thursday night has raised some £20,000 for the charity.

It did so with the usual heads and tails game – conducted by the anarchic Bobby Davro – and a silent auction.

The money will help agents’ own good causes by topping up the amounts they raise by up to £500.

Peter Knight, chairman of Agents Giving, said that as well as raising money, a number of attendees at the ball committed to becoming ambassadors for the charity and to make further donations.

Knight said the 2015 ball will not be held in October, currently being promoted as an alcohol-free month.

He said: “We will definitely have another ball next year but will avoid ‘Stopober’ as several agents said they’d fallen off the wagon after just one day of abstinence!”
