House prices growing seven times faster north of the border

House prices in Scotland are now growing at seven times the rate of England and Wales, Your Move claims.

Your Move’s March House Price Index for Scotland puts annual growth at 7.7%, leaving average prices at £184,850 for the month.

This compares with annual growth of just 1% south of the border.

The index also showed that while prices fell 0.1% between February and March in England and Wales, they continued growing in Scotland, up 1.2%.

Much of the growth came from high value sales in Edinburgh, where average prices were up 14.5% to £288,039, while Falkirk saw the biggest annual price growth, up 15.4% to £153,667.

Christine Campbell, managing director of Your Move in Scotland, said: “The Scottish market goes from strength to strength, with Edinburgh driving growth, but excellent performance found across the country. With property in Scotland still very affordable, it is possible this will continue, too.”
