Landlord family take battle to tribunal to have letting agent banned

A couple travelled from their home in Kent to argue that an agency in Scotland should be banned.

Lindsay and Lesley Chick together with their son David made the 900-mile round trip to a tribunal in Glasgow.

The Chicks say they are owed some £7,000 in unpaid rent by Lanarkshire-based Location, which managed five properties for them.

Court orders amounting to nearly £20,000 have reportedly been issued against the business, run by Kenny Stenhouse and Carrie Little.

From October, anyone carrying out letting agency work in Scotland must by law be registered – as is already the case in Wales, and will be the future regime in England.

The Chicks raised a case against Location at the First-tier Tribunal.

Lindsay Chick told the tribunal: “I feel people behaving in this way shouldn’t be allowed to trade.

“We’re desperate to do everything we can to ensure others are protected from the experience we’ve had at the hands of Location.
