TPO launches ‘early bird’ conference offer – with EYE as its media partner

The Property Ombudsman scheme has launched an ‘early bird ticket’ offer for its 2018 TPO conference.

The event will be held on Wednesday, June 13, at The National Conference Centre in Solihull.

EYE will once again be showing its support for the event as TPO’s media partner, and the tickets are now available to book https://www.tpos.co.uk/members/tpo-conference

TPO’s 2018 conference will bring together frontline staff, industry leaders and a host of leading names to debate the latest issues concerning regulatory reform, law enforcement and the practical application of TPO’s Codes of Practice to protect consumers and raise industry standards.

Next year’s event will have keynote speakers, exhibitors, industry panellists and a series of agent workshops and seminars.

There will be a strong emphasis on learning and development, and delegates can claim CPD credits for attending the conference.

Gerry Fitzjohn, TPO board chairman, said: “We’re delighted to have Property Industry Eye as our media partner again.

“The 2018 conference is an event for all agents – not just TPO members – as we want to bring the industry together so we can raise standards and talk about the issues that count.”

Ombudsman Katrine Sporle said: “Our hugely popular agent workshops will play a big part in the event, which are based on real-life scenarios/consumer complaints where delegates will receive practical, hands-on advice based on the latest regulations and best practice.

“The day is being shaped around the needs of agents, so the workshops cater for agents in sales, lettings and residential leasehold management – with toolkits that agents can use in their workplace and share with colleagues to improve the way we handle disputes before they become a complaint that needs to cross my desk.”

In my view there are two key elements needed to persuade people to take a day out of their business and pay for a conference. When it is and where it is.

An idea of what to expect on the day would be a useful bonus.

I make the point because on the Ombudsman’s website none of the above is mentioned. The page is at the same link as above, optimistically titled ‘TPO 2018 Conference Website’ which is actually a booking form that nobody will bother completing if they don’t know when and where it is!

A Trade Descriptions issue if ever I saw one . . oops sorry, showing my age, Consumer Protection Regulations. Who do I complain to?

Ros: I realise this may be some sort of contra deal you have with the organisers, ie you get exclusivity on publicising the date and venue.

TPOS: PIE is a great source of information and debate (and humour) for our profession but you may find there are a few property people that, say in hushed tones, don’t receive PIE.

So a bit of advice from someone who has been round the block more times than a bin lorry, put the details on your website and have a bash at trying to sell it to people!

Hi El Burro. Many thanks for your comment which flagged that the link used in the article above sent readers straight to our ticket booking website. We do have a dedicated TPO Conference page on our main website, which will be kept updated as more details are confirmed and provides more information about the event, venue and past conference highlights, see link below:
