EYE having reported two recent incidents of vehicles crashing into estate agency windows, here is a third. It is possibly the most shocking yet, although thankfully there was neither death nor injury.
Fortunately, it happened late on Sunday afternoon when the agents, Roger Dean, in Stockport, were closed. On any other day of the week, it would surely have been a different story.
Take a look at the CCTV footage and it is clear that had anyone been anywhere near the window, whether agent or member of the pubic, would have stood little chance of escaping death or serious injury.
As it is, the car has caused some £15,000 of damage to the actual building, plus more to the business itself.
The CCTV footage, from around 4.50pm on Sunday, shows the moment the woman sped into the window before trying to reverse out of the wreckage.
Police, paramedics and fire crews were all called to the scene.
The driver, who was miraculously unhurt, was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Carole McCann, owner of Roger Dean, said the entire shopfront, desks, computer equipment, lighting and carpets were all wrecked.
She said: It’s going to be so disruptive. It’s not just about replacing everything that’s damaged. We’re going to have to be careful about opening and having things fixed.
“It’s going to cost us a lot – we’ll lose out.”
Yesterday, EYE reported on a bus whose brakes had failed crashing into an agent’s window in Leicester and a few weeks ago, how an agent was saved by a loo break when a vehicle crashed right through the window into where he had been sitting at his desk.

The odds in this day and age are much greater that a car crashes into an estate agents window – as in some high streets the number is only exceeded by charity shops, well until the on-line agents triumph over the dark side
